HOW TO SELL MORE BOOKS WITH RADIO

With Alex Carroll

Dan Janal – Welcome to the PR Leads audio seminar on How to Sell More Books With Radio. I’m Dan Janal, the President and Founder of PR Leads. It is my pleasure to introduce to you a person who I really think is the undisputed master in terms of getting on the radio, and more importantly, selling books on the radio. I know there are a lot resources out there for getting in touch with producers on radio shows and how to talk to radio people and such like that, but I can’t think of anyone or anything or any resource that compares to my guest today, because he’s been there, done that. He’s made, oh, I can’t even tell you how many millions, literally millions of dollars, on books he has sold and he discovered this when he was just a 19-year old teenager with a fascinating story—which I’m sure you’re going to get into, so I won’t steal your thunder there—but he’s helped many, many speakers, many authors, many consultants get on the radio and sell their products and services and books. So I ask you please, take out your pens, take out your pencils. This man talks a mile a minute, and every second is filled with useful information, in fact, you’ll probably never find anywhere else because it really, really works. Now, if Alex is speaking too fast, don’t worry. We will have a transcript of this session and it will be available for a nominal charge and we’ll send you information about how you can order that by email after the session is over. Without further adieu, I’d like to introduce my friend, Alex Carroll, from www.RadioPublicity.com, the man who wrote the book about getting on radio so you can sell your books. Welcome Alex.

Alex Carroll – Thanks Dan. I’m just going to jump in and get started and take the ball and run with it. I want to start out with basically telling all of you how this got going for me. It basically started when I was in college and I was a courier driver. When you’re a courier driver, your job can be summed up in four words, “get it there fast.” With that job description of mine, I kind of collected speeding tickets along the way. I actually got a total of ten of them over my four years of courier driving. Because the insurance company that insured the courier company I worked for only allowed you one ticket before they dropped you, which then, of course, meant you lost your job, I found myself in traffic court pretty quick, and fortunately, I had a couple of buddies who were cops and I called them up and said, “Hey guys, I gotta beat these tickets I got here. You got any tips for me?” They were actually really helpful and gave me some really good pointers.
