How to Sell More Books and Consulting Services at The Learning Annex

With

The second reason is you get high level consulting work. I’ve been contacted by CEOs to work with them, and of course they’re never going to come to a class because they don’t have that kind of time. They might sometimes send an assistant to check me out and it’s the assistants who have found me in the catalog or via research. But once they see me in person and in the catalog I have instant credibility. The only question that they ask typically is , “What are your fees?” So it’s a usually a short conversation because they’re already sold on me.

The other thing is that you get name recognition within the community and when you’re paired next to famous people that elevates you to the same level of fame. When people see you next to Rhonda Britten and Deepak Chopra they go, oh, isn’t she as famous as Rhonda Britten and Deepak Chopra? The other thing is that the catalogue it’s circulated, you know it’s everywhere upon city corners, you see those boxes on our city streets, they are circulated amongst the city and people pick them up like they’d pick up the New York Times and then they pick up a Learning Annex catalogue.

And the Learning Annex itself has over eight thousand events a year and they reach over 2.5 million people. The circulation of every catalogue is different depending on the city. The other thing is that it gives you the ability to contact your peers and connect about business opportunities. You can call up the Learning Annex and get the direct numbers of the famous people who are in the catalogue because you’re a teacher. And that’s been a great help to me as well. I can just pick up the phone and tell them I’m a peer, I’m a teacher at the Learning Annex too.

And then the third thing is that you, and I know you advocate this Dan, you can create a product from the seminar so make sure to audio or video tape it. Your seminar can be the beginning of your book and it can also turn into a transcript like what Dan does for these teleseminars. So it can be a CD, an audio, a transcript and then the beginning of your book. For those people who have a really hard time writing, just tape your talk and have somebody transcribe it.

And the fourth thing that I really love is that I get to meet fascinating people. I mean I’ve met everybody, I’ve met some people who have become dear friends. Other people, one guy was named Dr. Clue and he did treasure hunts for adults. Another one gave parties for dogs. And I third woman who actually had cancer started creating giant beautiful teapots because she wanted to live large before she died.
