How To Profit From Special Reports

With Joan Stewart, The Publicity Hound

Dan Janal – Welcome to the PR Leads seminar on How to Profit from Special Reports and also how to write those special reports. I’m Dan Janal, the President and Founder of PR Leads; we help experts get publicity. For more information about our services, please go to www.PRLeads.com.

My special guest today is one of my all-time best friends, Joan Stewart. Joan runs the Publicity Hound website and she has made a small fortune from writing and selling special reports. I have to tell you something, when I first heard about special reports, I wasn’t convinced; I wasn’t quite sure that anyone would spend a couple of dollars on the web for articles and information and such because so many people are giving it away. Joan is going to dispel me of that myth and I’ve seen her bank statements at times, so I know that it really is something that I was totally unprepared for, that you actually can make money with information on the web, and Joan is going to share that with us today. Joan’s background is from the newspaper side of things. She was a newspaper reporter and editor for many years then she went over to the dark side of public relations and has really an international following among corporate PR people, authors, speakers; she’s spoken to the Public Relations Society of America, she spoke at a media relations conference last week in San Francisco, she’s spoken at the National Speakers Association, she’s all over the place. Welcome, Joan.

Joan Stewart – Hi Dan, good to be back again.

Dan Janal – Great. One thing that I also would like to say about Joan is that, some of you might say, “Well, Joan does PR and Dan does PR; isn’t that a conflict? Aren’t they competitors?” Well, I want to dispel people of that notion right away, because your competitors are probably, or could be, your biggest friends and your biggest supporters. Joan and I certainly do, I wouldn’t say conflict, but we go after the same market in some ways, but we go after radically different markets in other ways, and as a result, we are very effective [co-opaters]; we compete but we cooperate as well. Joan does a lot of work with me and I make money on that, and I do a lot of work with Joan and she makes money on that, too, so it really is a great thing. If you’re not cooperating with your competitors, you’re missing out on great joint venture opportunities. Again, welcome Joan; I’m delighted that you’re here today.

Joan Stewart – Good to be here and that was very well said.

Dan Janal – Thank you very much. Let’s just define what a special report is and how it differs from other writings that you might see on the Web or on your website.
