Make Money With Google Adsense
With Joel Comm
Dan Janal: Welcome to the PR Leads seminar on how authors and experts can make money with Google Adsense. This is the seminar that Google never wanted you to know about.
I’m Dan Janal the president and founder of PR Leads. We help experts get the publicity they need to build their credibility so they can help sell more products and services. You can read more about how we do that at www.prleads.com.
I am delighted to my special guest, Joel Comm, who will tell us everything he knows about Google Adsense, or as much as he can tell in 60 minutes. I’m particularly pleased to welcome, because Joel and I go back a long way. Many of you know that I did the initial PR work America Online and a lot of other high tech start-ups way back in my history. I actually ran into Joel and Joel met me years and years ago at a computer trade show and then we sort of drifted our own ways. Then a couple months ago he resurfaced in my life and we caught up and he’s done a lot of things since I first knew him.
You know Yahoo’s Games section? Joel started that as his own company and sold it to Yahoo!. I think that tells you a little bit about where Joel comes from, his entrepreneurial spirit, his ability to see a market and develop it and his ability to be a great business person and actually grow a business, sell it and instead of retiring and going off to an island in Tahiti he’s still working. He still has his own website and he’ll tell you more about that. He has uncovered the latest golden goose on the internet, which is the Google Adsense. I want to be real clear about this. Some of you have heard Perry Marshall on Google Adwords. That’s something totally different. Joel, why don’t you tell us the difference between Adsense and Adwords? That might be a good place to get started.
Joel Comm: Hi Dan. Thanks for having me. It is good to catch up with you again. Hello to everybody on this call today.
There are absolutely brilliant. They have taken the ability to advertise online in a contextual environment and opened it up so that publishers can also reap the benefits of this advertising. Adsense and Adwords are two sides of the same point.
The Adwords side, of course, is if you are on the internet and you want to advertise your site and your services. You go and you purchase certain key words. For example, we’ll just take public relations, since that seems to be the niche that you’re in, and if you wanted to advertise www.prleads.com you would go to Adwords and you would type in public relations and perhaps some other key words and phrases related to your segment on the market. Then you would bid on those key words. When you see these ads displayed on the page the highest bidder gets number one spot, second bidder number two, on and on and on down the line. Of course, those who appear higher up are going to get more clicks because they’re more visible.
